District Commissioner's have been working for over a year to ensure that all procedures in death cases can be electronic. The electronic handling of death cases is one of a number of digital steps taken by the District Commissioner's to increase digital services where the user and his/her needs are put first.

A major milestone in digitising driving learning is now being achieved with the activation of the digital driving study book by the Icelandic Transportation Authority.

The District Commissioners continue to make their services digital, and now mortgage certificates can be retrieved through an electronic application on island.is at any time.

Persons with reduced mobility may be entitled to a parking card (P-sign) for persons with reduced mobility, in order to park in a specially marked outdoor parking space (P-park) which should be near to places of access for persons to receive services, such as public institutions and shops.

Applications for home accommodation are now open for 2022. A home-stay permit gives an individual permission to sell accommodation in his domicile or in properties owned by him/her.
