The first bank has commenced electronic transmission of information in estate matters to district commissioners

Landsbankinn now electronically transmits information regarding the status of assets and liabilities of the deceased on the date of death directly into the estate system of district commissioners. This includes, for example, the status of bank accounts and mortgage loans.

The survey reached people from across the country and shed light on various aspects of services and interactions with the District Commissioners' offices.

The District Commissioners' Offices have achieved significant progress in digital transformation during 2023–2024 and are now among the leading institutions in digital solutions. Most service processes have been digitised, enabling citizens to access services without needing to visit in person. Each year, the District Commissioners serve nearly 60% of the population.
