Non-ionizing radiation measurements
The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority has the following measuring equipment to measure non-ionizing radiation:
NARDA ELT 400 which measures magnetic fields from 1-400 kHz.
Among other things, it is suitable for measuring magnetic fields from transformer stations and from the electrical system in homes.NARDA NBM 520 with EF probe that measures electric fields from 100 kHz to 6 GHz.
Among other things, it is suitable for measuring transmissions from mobile phone transmitters.
The above meters are regularly sent for calibration abroad.
The institution collects a fee for measurements of the electromagnetic field according to the tariff established by the ministry.
Other meters are:
A meter for measuring radiation in tanning beds
A meter to measure the concentration of a solution
A meter for measuring electric fields at low frequencies
A meter on the roof of the Radiation Safety Authority building that monitors ultraviolet radiation
