The violation was investigated
Criminal investigations are conducted by the police. If the police know or suspect that a criminal offence has been committed, they must initiate an investigation. It does not matter whether a complaint has been received or not. The goal of the research is to gather all necessary data. Next, it can be decided whether or not to prosecute someone.
Taking statements
Part of the investigation is to ask witnesses about what they know. It is called witness statements. The objective of taking statements is to state everything that the police consider necessary for the investigation. The questioning is usually done at a police station, but sometimes the questioning takes place elsewhere, for example where the offence was committed. Sometimes the police take statements from witnesses by telephone call.
Hearings at police stations are recorded or recorded in both audio and video. The police shall write a report on what the witness has to say about the case, either in such a way that a summary of the witness's testimony is prepared or that the testimony of the witness is written from the word go. Reports taken from witnesses will form part of the case's evidence.
