Rehabilitation is intended to support a person who is unable to perform work on the labour market due to an accident or illness with the aim of regaining work competence or increasing employment. Conditions that must be met in order to apply for rehabilitation are: being in active rehabilitation under the supervision of a professional, having had legal residence in Iceland for consecutive 12 months and having exhausted sickness rights from the employer and the union health fund.
