Social Insurance Administration: Old age pension

Can I apply for an old-age pension retroactively?

Yes, you can bring forward your old-age pension and start receiving it up to two years earlier, at age 65.

If you bring it forward to age 65, the annual payment will be 87.76 per cent of what would have been paid from age 67. The reduction is therefore 12.24 per cent if you start receiving your old-age pension from age 65. Bringing forward your old-age pension also reduces the amount of the household supplement.

Please note that before you apply to the Social Insurance Administration to bring forward your old-age pension, you must apply to all your pension funds.
