Work machinery licenses are valid until the age of 70. After that, they can be renewed every three years.

Crane operation licenses must be renewed every ten years from the date of initial issue. When renewing a crane license, a medical certificate and proof of a valid license must be submitted.

Applications for the renewal of work machine rights must be submitted through Ísland.is. When renewing expired rights, for example due to age, a general medical certificate must be submitted.

The licence is issued and sent by post to the holder. A digital licence is also available.
