If you export goods to a country with which Iceland has a free trade agreement, the importer may be eligible for reduced import duties in that country. To claim this preferential treatment, the importer must provide proof that the goods originate in Iceland. This proof is provided through an EUR.1 movement certificate.
How it works
Obtain an EUR.1 form from a customs office
The form is pre-printed and available at all customs offices. It cannot be downloaded and printed from the internet. You may complete the form in advance using the template and print the information onto the pre-printed form.Complete the form
The form must include information about the goods, their origin, and the buyer. Customs authorities will verify that the goods meet the applicable rules of origin under the relevant free trade agreement.Submit the form for certification
The form must be submitted to the customs office where the export customs clearance takes place. Customs will certify the certificate by stamping it and return it to you.Send the certificate with the goods
The importer uses the EUR.1 certificate to apply for preferential tariff treatment with the customs authorities in the destination country.
If the value of the goods exceeds EUR 6,000, a special authorisation may be required. For further information, contact the customs authorities at upprunamal@skatturinn.is.
Approved Exporters
Approved Exporters may issue origin declarations directly on commercial invoices, regardless of the value of the goods.
