EORI numbers for customs clearance in Iceland
EORI is a unique identification system used by the European Union (EU) to register and track customs information in international trade. EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification.
Iceland is not a member of the EU and does not issue EORI numbers.
Imports
Icelandic customs authorities do not use the EORI system, and therefore an EORI number does not need to be included in customs documents relating to Iceland.
Exports
Icelandic exporters shipping goods to EU countries must include the EORI number of the recipient in the export documents.
Please note that an EORI number is not the same as a VAT number or tax identification number. Although they may be linked, they are separate systems.
EORI numbers are used exclusively by customs authorities to monitor import and export activities.
Tax identification numbers are used by tax authorities for tax purposes.
