Renewal of the permit to trade in firearms and ammunition

Applications shall be made before the previous permit expires.

The person responsible for the business must have a valid firearms license.

The same requirements apply when renewing a license as when granting such licenses in general.

Application for renewal

Information to be included:

• information about the applicant, such as name, ID number, e-mail address and telephone number

• the licensee's information, such as ID number, telephone number and e-mail address

• information about the responsible person, such as name, e-mail address and telephone number. The responsible person must have a valid firearms licence.

• company information, such as the name and ID number of the managing director and the board members

• a copy of a confirmation from Skatturinn, Iceland Revenue and Customs, that the applicant is registered in the company register

Maximum of 5 years

Security and registration

The licence is accompanied by an obligation to keep a detailed record of all firearms and ammunition purchased or sold.

The police supervises the registration and handling of firearms and ammunition.
