Electronic ID's are simple and convenient means of identification used in the electronic world. They make our lives easier and are simple to use. They allow you to do banking, sign important documents such as loan agreements, access healthcare services on the web and many more. It is important that you use your electronic identification in a safe manner and are completely sure when entering your PIN.

1. Read electronic identification requests carefully

Check that the information that is delivered to your phone is in accordance with the information provided by the service provider on the log-on page. Many service providers use figures for text comparison. Take a good look at who the request is from and for what purpose.

2. Do not accept a login that you are not familiar with

You should always initiate the start of the login with an electronic identification. If a login request that you do not recognize comes to your phone, do not approve the request.

3. Cancel if you are not sure

It is very important to be sure before entering your PIN. If you have any doubt, cancel. There is always a way to start again.

If you believe you have been involved in an electronic fraud, you must:

  1. Contact the service provider immediately, e.g. financial company

  2. Report the incident to the police: abendingar@lrh.is

  3. To report the incident: Cert-IS
