Data protection laws and your rights
Overview
The Data Protection Act states how organisations, companies and the government may work with your personal data.
The Act on Personal Protection and Processing of Personal Information (in Icelandic) is Iceland's implementation of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is data protection for?
Personal data is information about people - not information about organisations or animals. The Data Protection Act protects personal data of individuals.
Those who work with personal data, such as companies and organizations, must follow data protection laws when collecting, preserving and using personal information.
