Establish a collection of endorsements for a presidential candidacy 2024

Establish a collection of endorsements

A candidate for president can establish a collection of endorsement for his/her/their candidacy here. Only candidates themselves can establish a collection of endorsements. In order to establish the collection, the candidate must be an Icelandic citizen, having reached the age of 35 years on election day.

  • Each candidate must turn in 1500 – 3000 endorsements, divided proportionally by the number of voters in each quarter of the country. The legal domicile of endorsers dictates into which quarter they belong.

  • Once a collection of endorsements has been established, endorsers can record their endorsements with electronic identities.

  • When a candidate turns in a notice of candidacy to the Election Board of Iceland, he/she/them shall state that endorsers have been collected electronically. The Election Board of Iceland shall review the endorsements in the system.

  • It shall be prohibited to copy, distribute or use information about endorsers for any other purpose than to collect them and turn in a candidacy.

The Election Board of Iceland is responsible for the processing of personal information used for the purpose of identifying candidates and endorsers. The personal protection policy of the Election Board of Iceland can be accessed here.

National Registry provides assistance with using the system at kosningar@skra.is or by phone 515 5300.

Here it is possible to endorse the candidates who have established a collection of endorsements. It is only possible to endorse one candidate, but the endorsement can be withdrawn until the candidacy deadline ends.
