The District Commissioner of Northwest Iceland is responsible for collecting the claims of Social Insurance Administration (TR) when the debtor has failed to fulfill repeated calls from TR for payment.
Collection process
When a claim is created, it is published in the debtor's online banking account. A letter of the collection is sent to the person's mailbox on the island. is. If the claim is not paid 30 days after the letter of collection has been sent and the claim is not negotiated, a payment challenge is published by the policy holder.
Payment distribution
When a deduction from payments at TR is not possible, it is possible to negotiate with the District Commissioner of Northwest Iceland about distribution of payments.
A payment distribution request must be submitted in writing to the e-mail address innheimta@syslumenn.is or by letter to the District Commissioner's Office in Northwest Iceland. Payments can also be made by credit card. The principle is that payments are divided up to 12 months at the debtor's request but not more than 36 months in the normal case, in special circumstances. The minimum amount of monthly payments in payment distribution is 10,000 ISK.
Transfers
Please note that you can pay a claim on bank account 0159-26-267, ID 660914-0990. IBAN: IS81 0159 2600 0267 6609 1409 90 SWIFT (BIC) NBIIISRE
The debtor's ID number and name must be stated when making a payment in a bank.
Interest
If a claim for overpaid benefits has not been paid 12 months after it was incurred, the Social Insurance Administration is obliged to calculate an annual rate of 5.5% on the balance of the claim.
Interest is not calculated if there is a contract for repayment and the person is in arrears with those payments.
Levy
A 15% levy on the amount of overpaid claims may be compensated if it is found that the beneficiary has given false, misleading or insufficient information.
