Parking vehicles

In general

Generally, you can park:

  • in a marked parking lot,

  • along streets in the same driving direction as traffic on the street, unless prohibited by a traffic sign or other marking.

If a car is parked incorrectly, it can result in a fine or the car being towed away.

General bans

You cannot park a car:

  • at the intersection or within 5 metres from the nearest turn,

  • on a pedestrian crossing or within 5 metres of it,

  • on a sidewalk or sidewalk edge,

  • in front of home drives,

  • at the end of the bottom lines,

  • on bridges or in tunnels,

  • at a bus stop within 15 metres from the signal.

This is to ensure that other drivers and pedestrians have clear vision without hindrance.

Specific restrictions

Some parking spaces have special restrictions that need to be taken into account:

  • temporary restrictions, with signs indicating that only a certain time of the day may be used

  • paid parking

  • special parkings, such as parking spaces for disabled people, charging stations for electric cars or other specially marked parking spaces.
