Operated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in collaboration with Digital Iceland and all seven universities in Iceland, the platform aims to facilitate strategic decision-making in choosing a course of study.

In its initial phase, Háskólanám.is focuses on presenting detailed information on the diverse selection of study courses offered by Icelandic universities. Future developments will include the addition of features such as an application portal for all universities. This function will be implemented gradually, starting with bachelor's studies and then master's studies. Further tools for determining the right study course will also be introduced, such as interest analysis tests and connections to various university-related services.
