Landspítali The National University Hospital of Iceland invites applications for the position of Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides specialized, family oriented mental health services for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age. The department works through multidisciplinary teams and in close collaboration with other institutions.
We are seeking a motivated, positive, and dedicated specialist to provide high quality assessment, treatment, and follow up for our patients.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in multidisciplinary team work
Contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives
Participate in teaching and research activities in consultation with the Head of Department
Take part in on call duties for consultants

QUALIFICATIONS
Education that meets the requirements as defined in the regulation on the education, rights, and obligations of registered doctors and criteria for granting of licenses and specialist licenses. The regulation is issued by the Healthcare Practitioners Act.
An Icelandic Medical License to practice as a specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Knowledge and experience with trauma related, social, and psychiatric difficulties in children and adolescents
Experience with complex neurodevelopmental disorders combined with psychiatric challenges
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a collaborative approach
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and proficiency in Icelandic or willingness to learn it
Clean criminal record

Full-time employment (100%) means working only for Landspitali and this is paid for extra according to the current collective agreement between the Icelandic Medical Association and the Icelandic State (from November 2024).
