Landspítali The National University Hospital of Iceland invites applications for the position of Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides specialized, family oriented mental health services for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age. The department works through multidisciplinary teams and in close collaboration with other institutions.

We are seeking a motivated, positive, and dedicated specialist to provide high quality assessment, treatment, and follow up for our patients.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team work

  • Contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives

  • Participate in teaching and research activities in consultation with the Head of Department

  • Take part in on call duties for consultants

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION AND APPLICATION:

Full-time employment (100%) means working only for Landspitali and this is paid for extra according to the current collective agreement between the Icelandic Medical Association and the Icelandic State (from November 2024).

The position is available upon agreement. The application deadline is April 20th, 2026.

The application form must include information about:

  • Previous jobs, education, medical licenses, and qualifications.

  • Certified copies of diplomas and professional and specialist licenses.

  • A CV, specifying experience in teaching, scientific work, quality work, and management experience. A summary of published peer-reviewed papers in which the applicant is one of the authors.

  • A cover letter with justification for the applicant's qualifications and vision for the job.

Supporting documents must be in PDF format.

Applicants must present a recent criminal record certificate before employment can take place, in accordance with the main principles of the Child Protection Act, as outlined in Article 36, paragraph 2 of Act No. 80/2002.
