Waiver of a private number plate

The inscription of a private number plate is available for redistribution when the right of the previous owner has been revoked. Upon waiver, the private number plates shall be returned to the Icelandic Transport Authority or to an inspection station where they will be disposed of. However, the previous owner may allow the new owner to use the same number plates, provided that they are in good condition and legible.
