Waiver of private registration plate

Inscriptions of private plates are available for redistribution when the right of the previous owner has been revoked. Upon waiver, private signs shall be returned to the Icelandic Transport Authority or its agent where they will be disposed of. However, the owner may allow a new owner to use the same inscription, provided that they are complete and legible.
