Recognition of measurement technicians for vehicle structural integrity and wheel alignment
The Icelandic Transport Authority (ICETRA) maintains a list of those accredited to issue body structure certificates and wheel alignment certificates. Issuing these certificates is part of the repair process for damaged vehicles, but a wheel alignment certificate may also need to be presented for vehicle inspections or modifications.
The measurement technician is responsible for ensuring that the measurement has been carried out in an approved manner and in accordance with the manufacturer's data. It must be ensured that the vehicle's body structure or wheel alignment is correct when a certificate is issued. Violation of the rules regarding the issuance of certificates may result in the revocation of approval.
Approval of measurer
The individual must first sign up and attend a course in the issue of structural certificates or certificates of wheel position at Iðan fræðslusetur
After completing the course, the individual applies for a workplace audit with Iðan.
Upon passing the workplace audit, Iðan notifies ICETRA of the new measurer, provided they passed the audit.
ICETRA accredits the measurer and lists them on the list of accredited measurers.
The following information shall be included in the notification:
Whether it is a course and an examination in the issue of a structural certificate or a certificate of wheel position.
Information about the measurer.
Information about the relevant workshop.
Dates of the course and audits.
Notes if changes have been made to the staffing (relevant to the measurers) of the workshop.
Extension of the approval of measurer
A measurer's accreditation is valid for 5 years. Before the accreditation period expires, the individual must attend a renewal course with Iðan to maintain their authorization. Iðan notifies ICETRA of all measurers who have completed renewal courses and updates their valid accreditation period.
