Approval of a vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods (ADR)

Transport of dangerous goods by road requires special procedures, and for this purpose vehicles need to comply with ADR rules have approval. See more here.

Application

When applying for registration of a vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods, an application shall be submitted to the Icelandic Transport Agency for registration, together with the necessary supporting documents. The application shall specify the category of dangerous goods for which the vehicle is being approved.

ADR inspection

If an application is approved, vehicles must be brought to ADR inspection at inspection station. If the vehicle passes an ADR inspection, it is granted a recorded period of validity. In order to maintain ADR validity of a vehicle, the vehicle shall be subject to annual ADR inspection.

Cost

Cost of ADR registration is 1.071 ISK and is paid at the ADR inspection.
