Act No. 81/2025, which amends the Health Records Act, No. 55/2009, has come into force. The purpose of these amendments is to improve efficiency in healthcare services, promote digital development, and enhance patient safety.

Land and Forest Iceland has published a revised edition of its quality criteria for selecting land for afforestation. The publication of such criteria was stipulated in Land and Life, the government policy on soil conservation and forestry. The criteria will now be applied in the assessment of afforestation proposals under Regulation No. 50/2026 on incentive and support projects in soil conservation and forestry. The institution also recommends that municipalities and other stakeholders make use of the criteria when processing permits for forestry-related developments.

A conference on the digital vision of the public sector and innovations under way to promote digital services will be presented at the Digital Iceland conference "Connecting the State" on Thursday 24 September next.

A service survey was conducted among residents of nursing homes of the Health Institute of East Iceland (HSA) in November and December 2025. At the same time, a similar service survey was conducted among relatives of residents of HSA nursing homes.

The Icelandic parliament, Althingi, has approved a bill on a single payment to incapacity and rehabilitation pensioners in the amount of ISK 70,364. The single payment will be granted to pensioners who are entitled to receive incapacity or rehabilitation pension in 2024.
