At the Akureyri Hospital, increased specialized services in colorectal surgery have been developed in recent months. Two surgeons at the hospital, who have expertise in lower gastrointestinal surgery, have led this development alongside their general surgical practice.

The land reclamation project at Geitasandur, which involves planting birch trees and encouraging natural reseeding, is progressing well. Recently, fertiliser was applied to a large birch plantation established last year. The progress is being carefully monitored.
