Staff at Land and Forest Iceland were today introduced to the organisation’s new strategy and to a new organisational structure, which will take effect on 1 January. Under the new structure, the organisation will consist of three core departments and two support departments. Four director positions have been advertised, with applications open until 11 December.

Twelve software companies have been selected in a recently completed interdisciplinary framework tender for software development. This is the third time that Digital Iceland has conducted such a tender, and this time it attracted significant interest and participation.

The Minister of Justice has appointed Jónas Þór Guðmundsson as a judge with a first post at the Reykjanes District Court from 13 March. At the same time, the Minister of Justice has appointed Brynjar Níelsson as a judge with a post at the Reykjavík District Court from 14 February to 31 December 2025.

Réttarvörslugáttin portal won the Innovation Prize 2025, awarded by the Icelandic Financial Management Authority for excellence in public innovation. The Judical Administration has worked on the project with the courts in close cooperation with the Ministry of Justice.

Private archives are an important part of the National Archives of Iceland’s collections and often provide a different and valuable view of life in Iceland. The work on completing and recording the archives of Supreme Court lawyer Gústafur Þór Tryggvason, who died in August of 2024, has just been completed. His descendants turned over his documents to the National Archives for preservation.

A preliminary classification of agricultural land suitable for food production is now available for review. A special, hypothetical map viewer, recently presented at a meeting of the Iceland­ic Associ­ation of Local Aut­horities, has been opened for the purpose. Comments on the hypothetical map viewer info may be submitted until June 30th.
