The unemployment rate in March was 4,2%, down from 4,3% in February. There were on average 8.509 unemployed persons in March 2025.

The Health Care Association of Fljótsdalshérað (HHF) has delivered twelve resuscitation manikins to nurses at the East Iceland Health Institute (HSA) for use in teaching and training in first aid and resuscitation.

The West Iceland Healthcare Institution has received a grant from the memorial fund of Bergþóra Magnúsdóttir and Jakob Bjarnason. The memorial fund is managed by the Directorate of Health and grants are granted from it to projects intended to improve the quality and safety of healthcare.

At the beginning of 2023, a grant was applied for the project “Use of Patient Archetypes to Analyze the Status of Emergency Services in South Iceland.” The purpose of the project is to harmonize services across the institution.

There are big exciting milestones ahead in the lives of the 10th graders in Iceland, as appllication for upper secondary schools for the school year 2025–2026 has begun. The novelty with this year’s application process is that it is now entirely conducted through the website Ísland.is, so applicants or guardians must have electronic ID.

The Landspítali University Research Fund has allocated grants to researchers at Landspítali University Hospital. The allocation took place at the spring meetings of the Scientific Committee on 23 April, but the beneficiaries were informed of the proposed grant granting electronically some time before.

The Reykholt inventory has been inscribed on the national Memory of the World register. The inventory will be discussed in particular on UNESCO Day, to be held on Thursday, 7 May, at Edda.
