It is possible to request anonymity in the vehicle registry. It hides a registered owner's or keeper's name in the online search in the vehicle registry and prevents a name from being used for marketing purposes.
If anonymity has been requested, a registered owner's or keeper's name will not appear on:
computer files
lists
stickers
Information on a registered owner's or keeper's name is disclosed if a written request is submitted, stating a reason for request. All requests are registered and stored for two years at the Icelandic Transport Authority. The stored data contains:
information provided from the vehicle registry
the name of the person who requested and received the information
electronic source of request
