It is possible to request anonymity in the vehicle registry in order to prevent its name from being used in marketing activities and telephone disclosures. The anonymity of the vehicle registry shall only apply to the information provided by the Icelandic Transport Authority, and not to other parties who have access to the vehicle registry.

It is stated that the name of the vehicle owner is indicated if a written request is made, stating sufficient reason for the request. All enquiries are registered and kept for two years. The information that is in the case file is:
