Waiting for healthcare - recommendations on a minimum recording. Published 2023. (Icelandic)
The Minister of Health confirmed the Directorate of Health's new recommendations for minimum recording in healthcare at the end of September 2024. These recommendations were published with an advertisement in Stjórnartíðindi, the Government's website, on 31 October 2024 (Icelandic).
In this new version, previous recommendations for hospitals and those for primary health care and medical offices have been merged into a single set of guidelines that took effect on October 1, 2024. The primary goal was to preserve the key values of past recommendations, such as avoiding unnecessary registration, simplifying the registration, utilizing coded information, and adapting to changes in healthcare, including updates in legislation, increased electronic registration, electronic data transmissions, and the growing reliance on data in health records.
