Patient hotels are an intermediate step between a hospital and a hotel. They are used by patients undergoing rehabilitation and those who, due to their health or family circumstances, need to seek services outside their home area.
Patient hotels and apartments intended for relatives
The Landspítali patient hotel at Rauðarárstígur is intended for those who, due to their health or family circumstances, must reside away from home for treatment and examination.
The hotel is also partly used for the further rehabilitation of and recovery by patients who have been in hospital. Stays are subject to referrals from doctors and nurses.
Landspítali has several apartments that patients from outside the greater Reykjavík area and their relatives may use when in Reykjavík.
The Hringur Children's Hospital manages several apartments in the Reykjavík area. These are rented to the parents of ill children who are from outside Reykjavík.
