Passenger fare charge in public transport
If a passenger in public transport cannot prove that he/she has paid the correct fare when requested, he/she may be required to pay a special fare charge.
Review of the decision
If the passenger believes that the fare charge decision is based on incorrect or insufficient information, he/she may request that the case be reviewed by the carrier.
A request for review must be submitted within three months of the passenger being charged the fee.
The carrier shall take a decision on review within three months of receipt of the request.
Appeals to the Icelandic Transport Authority
If a passenger is not satisfied with the carrier's decision, he/she can appeal the decision to the Icelandic Transport Authority.
Complaints shall be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address APR@samgongustofa.is.
Procedures are governed by Chapter VII of the Administrative Procedures Act and the ruling of the Icelandic Transport Authority is final at the administrative level.
