Energy improvements in greenhouses
Climate and Energy Fund announces ISK 160 million in grants for energy improvements in greenhouses.
Grants will be awarded in accordance with the fund’s regulation no. 1566/2024.
Application deadline: June 6, 2025.
Eligibility and priorities:
Grants are available to greenhouse farmers. Priority will be given to projects that align with the fund’s objectives and meet the following criteria:
Projects that deliver the highest energy savings per grant amount.
Projects that improve the economic efficiency of greenhouse operations.
Solutions that enhance technology use and the sector’s competitiveness.
Projects that can serve as models for others in the industry.
Consideration of whether the project has previously received support from the Climate and Energy Fund.
Grant structure and funding details:
Maximum grant coverage is 40% of total project costs (excluding VSK), with a cap of ISK 15 million per producer.
Payments will be divided into two parts:
Progress payment: 70% of the grant will be paid based on submitted documentation showing project progress.
Final payment: 30% will be paid once the project is completed, and a final report is submitted and approved by the fund.
The following documents must be included with the application:
Information about the applicant(s), as well as any additional participants or project partners.
Name, ID number (kennitala), and phone number of the person responsible for communication with the fund.
A description of the project and how it aligns with the goals and priorities of the grant, including Article 30 of Regulation No. 1566/2024 on the Climate and Energy Fund.
A timeline and project plan.
A detailed project budget and information about project financing.
