Age supplement for old-age pension paid for the first time

26th February 2026

The age supplement for the old-age pension has been paid to those entitled to it for the period January to February 2026 and payment plans have been updated. Around 1,400 individuals are entitled to the age supplement for the old-age pension, which is a new provision that came into effect on 1 January.

The old-age pension age supplement is paid to those who were entitled to the disability pension age supplement at retirement age and were aged 18-43 at their first disability assessment or when the conditions for a rehabilitation pension were first met.

Please note that if the person was older than 43 when the conditions for a rehabilitation pension were first met or at their first disability assessment, there is no entitlement to the old-age pension age supplement.

Amounts

The old-age pension age supplement can be a maximum of ISK 32,917 for individuals who received their first disability assessment between the ages of 18 and 24. The amount decreases by 5% from the age of 25 up to the age of 44.

The age supplement is income-related. The combined amount of the pension, home supplement and age supplement is reduced by 45% of income exceeding the exemption limit, until the age supplement is fully withdrawn.

The old-age pension age supplement was introduced by Act No. 95/2025.
