Human resources are important

16th May 2024

The International Human Capital Day is 20 May, but as the day is on a holiday, we will focus on human capital today, 16 May.

At the Akureyri Hospital there are three human resources representatives working on wages, three human resource consultants, a team manager of wages, the head of the human resources department and the manager of human resources.

“We at SAk have valuable staff that have a great deal of professional knowledge and have the heart in the right place. It is vital for us to nurture our people well to ensure well-being,” says Kristjana Kristjánsdóttir, Head of Human Resources.

On the Human Resources Day, it is worth looking back at what has been achieved in human resources at a large workplace like SAk.

“We want to make SAk a progressive and attractive workplace and are proud to offer support to employees and managers, e.g. through the Welfare Centre, support teams and the human resources team. The workload has been extensive in recent years and the number of illnesses has increased in parallel. We are therefore very committed to supporting staff in long-term and short-term illnesses and to maintaining a balanced staffing structure. We are seeing evidence that we are making progress, e.g. with the decreasing number of illnesses. The number of applications for jobs at SAk has also increased considerably, which is a good feeling because there is a lot to be gained,” says Kristjana.

Congratulations on Human Resources Day!
