Family Support Professional Group

Last year, a professional family support group was appointed, where representatives from SAk and the University of Akureyri (UNAK) are working together on the continued progress of family support for patients at SAk.
Representatives of the professional group are Áslaug Felixdóttir, nurse / project manager of education at SAk, Hafdís Sif Hafþórsdóttir, nurse / pharmacology department / pulmonary reception at SAk, Lóa Maja Stefánsdóttir nurse / dialysis care / hemodialysis SAk / home care HSN, Olga Ásrún Stefánsdóttir assistant professor UNAK / occupational therapist / family therapist, Sigríður Sía Jónsdóttir associate professor UNAK / midwife and Snæbjörn Ómar Guðjónsson, specialist in psychiatric nursing at SAk. The group's advisor is Bernard Gerritsma, head nurse of the SAk's psychiatric department, who was the project manager for the introduction of family nursing at the SAk.
It is important to increase cooperation between SAk's health services and UNAK's teaching. The project belongs to the Institute of Health Sciences of the University of Akureyri, which is a joint cooperation platform between these two institutions. The main tasks of the professional group are:
Leading and working on development within family-nursing/support, utilization of evidence-based knowledge and dissemination of new knowledge to nurses at SAk and nursing students in UNAK and other health professions regarding family support.
Formulating a strategy for services, quality work, research, teaching, learning and professional development within family nursing/support at SAk and UNAK.
To be a forum for professional discussion, but above all to be a forum for cooperation between SAk and the Health Department of UNAK.
To be in close cooperation with the Professional Council of Family Nursing at Landspítalinn (LSH).
