Doctors strike at SAk

Members of the Icelandic Medical Association have agreed to a strike call and if they have not agreed, they have called a doctors’ strike in a few days or at midnight on Monday, November 25th.
The work stoppage will proceed as follows:
Week 1:
All workplaces of doctors will be on strike from Monday, November 25, to Thursday, November 28, from midnight until 12 noon.
Week 2:
All workplaces of doctors will be on strike from midnight until 12 noon on Tuesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 5.
Week 3:
All workplaces of doctors will be on strike from Monday, December 9, to Thursday, December 12, from midnight until 12 noon.
Week 4:
All workplaces of doctors will be on strike from midnight until 12 noon on Monday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 18.
Strike Pause:
Strike actions will be paused from 12 noon on December 18 until midnight on January 6, 2025.
Impact of Doctor Strikes on SAk Services
All emergency services will be maintained. However, elective procedures and activities, including surgeries and outpatient services, will be significantly affected. Only emergency surgeries will be performed during the strike, chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients will be administered, and outpatient services will be provided as possible.
Patients with scheduled surgeries or outpatient appointments at SAk are advised to monitor the situation closely on the mornings of strike days to check if the strike has commenced or is ongoing. Patients may face cancellations.
