A great program on SAk's Nutrition Day
12th March 2024
SAk's well-attended Nutrition Day took place last week. The theme of the day was "ESPEN guidelines, clinical guidelines for hospital nutrition".
"The day was extremely successful and the talks were really interesting. The program was open to everyone and was both on iste and streamed, in total there were about 140 people who attended the day," says Laufey Hrólfsdóttir, department head of the SAk's Department of Education and Science.
"This is the first time that the Department of Education and Science was in charge of the organization. Since the change of the administrative structure of SAk last fall, all educational matters now belong to the department. We would like to help departments and teams to hold exciting educational days and events, the educational team manages the program and all the organization in consultation with key partners," says Laufey.
The program was full of interesting lectures: Áróra Rós Ingadóttir, head of the Department of Nutrition at LSH went through the recent clinical guidelines for hospital nutrition, Sandra Dögg Guðnadóttir, pharmacist and clinical nutritionist at LSH, gave a talk on guidelines regarding parenteral nutrition and Edgardo Parraguez Solar, food technician in the hospital kitchen SAk taught about special diets at SAk. Ingunn Högnadóttir, speech pathologist at SAk, explained why we need different diets and Berglind Soffía Blöndal, clinical nutritionist at Heilsuvernd/SAk, talked about the importance of screening for malnutrition. The moderator was Guðjón Kristjánsson, chief physician of internal medicine ward at SAk.
