Grants are available to educational providers, companies and institutions that offer Icelandic language courses outside the formal primary and upper secondary school system.

Applications may be submitted by educational providers that are accredited to provide adult and continuing education, as well as by companies that have entered into an agreement with such providers regarding responsibility for the instruction. Courses must be linked to proficiency levels within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The total funding available is determined annually by Alþingi through the state budget.
