A total of 498 claims have been reported after the natural disaster in Grindavik. Assessments have been completed in 370 cases, damage assessors are still processing 124 cases and 4 new cases await inspection. Of the 498 cases, 432 are residential property claims, 58 are asset claims and 8 claims are in regard to utility systems.
Settlements involving total damage to house property have been initiated in 65 cases. Of these, 34 cases are related to residential housing and the compensation amount is a total of 6.6 billion ISK. It is unknown what the final number of houses with total damage will be, but as things stand, it can be expected that their number will be in the range of 70-75 as long as there are no significant changes in the disaster in Grindavík from what currently is.
Compensation amounts due to partial damages are now available in 168 cases, and the results of damage assessments have been published in most of these cases. Of these, 137 are partial damage cases for residential buildings, where the total compensation amounts to 260 million ISK. In 27 cases, there is partial damage to furniture and personal property, where the total amount of compensation is around ISK 86 million.
