Important points regarding transport of contents from Grindavik

In regard to the planned relocation of contents of homes from Grindavík, The National catastrophe insurance of Iceland (NTÍ) has compiled the following points for information.
If damage has occurred to the insured contents
If the contents are fire insured by an insurance company (e.g. Family protection, F plus, Heimatrygging, Heimilisvernd) it is insured by NTÍ against natural disasters. If it turns out that there has been damage to insured contents when entering a house in Grindavík in the next few days, it is best to call NTÍ immediately at 575-3300. Employees there will assist in registering the damage and decide in consultation with the owners when it will be possible to inspect and assess the damage.
When a home content is moved from Grindavík
It is important to take pictures of the items that will be left in Grindavík, whether they are damaged or not.
Insurance during transport and at a new location
It is possible to buy special transport insurance from the regular insurance companies for possible damage to contents during transport. Once the transport of the contents is complete, the insurance company must be informed of the location of the contents to ensure that they are properly insured at the new location against any damage.
