Vorviður
The main objective of the Vorviður Fund is to support NGO's wishing to contribute to climate change by growing forests. It is part of the Government’s climate action plan and is intended to promote better land use for climate change.
Organisations proposing projects on land already planned for forestry will be given priority.
This year the grant will be granted in the form of forest seedlings (in trays) of the following main species:
downy birch,
contorta pine,
Sitka spruce,
Siberian larch,
black cottonwood.
The allocation of each of those species is subject to availability. The support consists in the allocation of seedlings only. Organisations apply for the grant to Land and Forest Iceland, which is responsible for the management of this project. Applications must be submitted for each year as the rules of procedure stipulate.
The deadline for applications for projects in 2026 is 12 April.
