Announcement of grants for the prevention of water erosion

Land and Forest Iceland is responsible under Icelandic Law for reducing or preventing land erosion and other damage to land, land resources or structures caused by inland watercourses.

Actions to control land erosion caused by watercourses may include:

  • the reinforcements of riverbanks.

  • the creation of dikes.

  • other measures involving the modification of river flow or waterways.

The prioritisation of applications is based on the value of the land or structures threatened by erosion forces. The maximum grant amount is four million Icelandic kronas.

The application deadline is 31 January 2024.
