A workshop held in conjunction with NordGen’s annual conference in Bergen, Norway, on 8–9 September will address the following question: “How do we secure the supply of seeds and seedlings for Nordic forests that can take the strain of climate change?”

The workshop forms part of an initiative launched by the Nordic Council of Ministers to gather information on the availability of seed and tree seedlings in the context of anticipated changes in the Nordic climate. The aim is to identify the tree species and seed sources best suited to future climatic conditions and to determine the challenges that must be addressed in this regard.

The workshop will examine the subject in depth to establish more clearly what work needs to be undertaken. Participants will contribute to the initiative by helping to identify both the most pressing challenges and the areas in which improved knowledge is most urgently needed.
