Land and Forest Iceland is currently accepting grant applications for projects aimed at mitigating land erosion resulting from inland watercourses, with a submission deadline of January 9, 2026.

Land and Forest Iceland is responsible under Icelandic Law for reducing or preventing land erosion and other damage to land, land resources or structures caused by inland watercourses.

Actions to control land erosion caused by watercourses may include:

• The reinforcements of riverbanks.

• The creation of dikes.

• Tther measures involving the modification of river flow or waterways.

The prioritisation of applications is based on the value of the land or structures threatened by erosion forces.

The application deadline is 9 January 2026.
