Competent – Impartial – Professional
It is the policy of ISAC to provide an accreditation system that:
Provides benefits to its clients and contributes to the integrity and value of the conformity assessment services they provide;
Conforms to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17011:2017 and other applicable normative documents;
Complies with the Icelandic laws and regulations regarding accreditation;
Fulfils the requirements of the European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA);
Ensures continuous improvement using among others internal and external audits, management reviews, and employee initiative;
Is impartial in all its actions;
Reflects a high level of competence and professionalism;
Provides a healthy work environment for its employees that encourages both independence and team work and recognises effort and performance;
Contributes to the development of accreditation through participation in domestic and international cooperation.
The management and employees of ISAC have understood and committed themselves to implement this policy and the supporting procedures.
ISAC operates in compliance with the Accreditation Act no. 24/2006, ÍST EN ISO/IEC 17011 and regulation (EC) 765/2008, adopted in Iceland by regulation 566/2013 on market surveillance, accreditation etc., and provides accreditation to international harmonised standards. The ISAC management is committed to and responsible for the performance of all accreditation activities in an impartial and objective manner.
Accreditation is always undertaken in an impartial way and ISAC does not engage in any activity which might compromise its impartiality. All risks to impartiality are assessed and actions taken accordingly. If a risk to impartiality is detected and cannot be mitigated, accreditation will not be granted.
All ISAC accreditation programmes are administered in a non-discriminatory manner and are open to all applicants that meet the applicable accreditation criteria.
ISAC has no share ownership, commercial or other interest in any conformity assessment body. Employees of ISAC do not work with accredited conformity assessment bodies that they or their close family members have any connection to. All ISAC personnel are obliged to declare any conflict of interest. They shall inform ISAC immediately if they have any connections to accredited conformity assessment bodies or applicants for accreditation. All subcontractors employed by ISAC shall inform ISAC of any conflicts of interests or threats to impartiality. Risks to impartiality will be evaluated, and action taken accordingly. All ISAC personnel and subcontractors shall be free from any undue pressures including commercial or financial pressure which may impact on their ability to act in an impartial way.
ISAC does not provide consultancy services and employees of ISAC do not work as consultants on accreditation. ISAC will not recommend any particular consultancy service for accreditation.
