The national radiation protection authorities of each participating country are responsible for the campaign in their own country. 21 countries in Europe are participating. The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority has translated the campaign brochures into Icelandic, but they are also available in other languages, through the campaign website at www.HERCA.org/getting-the-right-image-for-my-patient/
The campaign aims to improve patient care, ensuring each patient receives the most appropriate and justified imaging procedure, enhancing diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
The hope is that patients will receive more appropriate imaging and justified. With the outcome of improved diagnosis and treatment outcomes. In a recent European project, EU-JUST-CT, results indicated that up to 40% of CT scans in some European countries are not justified. There is therefore much to gain, especially for patients.
You can read more about the campaign in Iceland and access the brochures on the website of the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority dedicated to the campaign, see The right imaging for my patient.
