Monitoring and research on radioactive substances in foodstuffs and the environment.
Education and information on radiation protection for workers who work with radiation, as well as disseminating information to the public and the media.
Research in the field of radiation protection.
Radiological aspects of preparedness for any radiation attack, including the identification of threats, coordination of preparedness with international standards, operation of preparedness and radiometric systems and other related matters.
Necessary metrology and conservation of national standards for the use of ionising radiation in Iceland.
Cooperation with foreign institutions in the field of radiological protection and nuclear power.
Other matters concerning the implementation of this Act and other projects in the field of radiation protection shall be as further decided by the Minister.
