Psychological services

Children
Iceland Health contribute to the cost of children's psychological services if a reference is made to either the diagnostic team or the primary healthcare centre. The reference is for a maximum of ten hours and is valid for six months from the time of first treatment. The psychologist in question must work in accordance with an agreement between Iceland Health and the Icelandic Psychological Association.

18 and older
Iceland Health has, in certain cases, the right to contribute to the cost of psychological services for those 18 years of age or older. The premise for contribution is that a referral be made from a healthcare clinic and that therapists who work under the Framework Agreement of Iceland Health be consulted about psychological services.

To meet the growing need for psychological services among young people, emphasis is placed on giving them priority over the services.
