Grants for orthodontics

With the amendment to the Regulation on the participation of Iceland Health in the cost of dentistry, grants for general orthodontic treatment have increased considerably.
The increase came into effect on 1 September and applies to those who have not already received a grant.
Grants for orthodontic treatment are divided into two parts. The grant for treatment in both upper and lower palates increases from ISK 150,000 to ISK 430,000, and the grant for orthodontic treatment that only requires treatment in other palates increases from ISK 100,000 to ISK 290,000.
The grant is awarded if treatment is provided by an orthodontic specialist working under contract with Iceland Health.
