Emergency services are only for serious situations when the user is incapacitated in his/her assistive device. The device has malfunctioned, and the user cannot seek assistance from his/her assistants or loved ones. A security guard/guard will come to the location and assist the user in such cases.
Emergency assistance does not include the repair of assistive devices.
Examples of when to call emergency services:
A hospital bed that is fixed in the top position.
Wall-mounted elevator that breaks.
The user is trapped in a magnet in a forklift.
Emergency care covers a malfunction of electrical aids such as:
Hospital beds.
Elevator rooms.
Electric wheelchairs.
Electric scooters.
Special equipment for vehicles.
If your device breaks, first check with the seller/importer (see the label on the device) whether the device is under warranty (usually 2 years from purchase) and the seller is then obliged to repair it. If the device is not under warranty, the seller will handle the repair, or refer you to a party that has a repair agreement with the Iceland Health (e.g., in rural areas). Repairs must be carried out by a company that has a repair agreement with the Iceland Health and/or by approved entities. Most often, these are the device’s dealers/importers and/or parties on their behalf (see list above).
A form or label must accompany the device with information about the user’s name, personal identification number, and a description of what needs to be repaired.

How do I get my device repaired?
