Sigurður Einar Sigurðsson has been appointed Director of Medicine at the West Iceland Healthcare Centre and will begin work on 1st September.

Sigurður Einar Sigurðsson has been appointed Director of Medicine at the West Iceland Healthcare Centre and will begin work on September 1st.

Sigurður Einar has been the managing director of the medical and hand-medical sector at Akureyri Hospital (SAk) since 2012, and has extensive management experience and extensive knowledge of the work. He has participated in numerous improvement and quality projects in shaping SAk in recent years, as well as the development of the electronic health record, telehealth services and SAk quality certification, to name a few.

Sigurður completed medical school from the University of Iceland in 1987. He received a specialist licence in anesthesiology and intensive care in Sweden in 1995 and in Iceland in 1997, and also holds a diploma in health sciences with a focus on management.

Sigurður Einar is welcomed to work at the West Iceland Healthcare Centre.
