Influenza vaccination for children
29th October 2025

Heilbrigðisstofnun Suðurnesja (HSS) offers free influenza vaccinations for all children from 6 months to 5 years.
Influenza can be serious, especially for young children. By vaccinating, we provide them with better protection and help reduce the spread of the virus.
The Chief Epidemiologist recommends that the following risk groups be given priority for influenza vaccination:
• Children born in 2020 or later who have reached 6 months of age at the time of vaccination.
• Children with underlying health conditions.
• Children who are in close contact with vulnerable individuals.
It takes about two weeks for the body to develop protection against the flu after vaccination.
Now is the time to get vaccinated – before the flu season reaches its peak.
Appointments can be booked at the HSS reception from 9 AM to 3 PM by calling 422 0500.
