Loans for individuals
The aim of HMS (Housing and Construction Authority) housing loans is to improve security in the housing market by providing loans to individuals in situations not serviced by other credit institutions. This includes low-income individuals anywhere in Iceland, disabled individuals with special needs, and individuals building or converting housing in rural areas.
Types of loans
HMS provides individuals indexed or non-indexed housing loans for the purchasing, construction or renovation of apartments anywhere in Iceland.
Changes to HMS Housing loans
You can make various changes to the terms of your loan, such as shortening the loan period or taking over a loan from HMS.

Various solutions are available to deal with the problem, depending on the extent of the problem and each individual’s circumstances.
